GA State Procurement Case Study

Industria: Government
Mercado: United States
Demografía: General Market

Background - From August 2023 through early 2024, ThinkNow completed a three-phase project for the Georgia State Department of Procurement. Our goal was to gain insights into the needs, attitudes, and perceptions of potential job seekers, particularly those interested in working with the department.

Phase 1: Understanding Job Seeker Perspectives

The first phase used qualitative research through online focus groups. We conducted three 90-minute sessions targeting distinct groups: college students and recent graduates, current job seekers, and career counselors from high schools, colleges, and industry sectors.

These focus groups, representative of Georgia's diverse racial and ethnic demographics (aged 18 and older), allowed us to delve deeper into the target audience's perspectives. We developed the discussion guide, moderated the sessions, and analyzed the data. The results were compiled into a detailed report featuring key insights, themes, and recommendations.

Phase 2: Validating Insights with a Larger Sample

Phase two of the project aimed to validate the qualitative findings from phase one through quantitative research. We designed an online survey distributed to the general population across Georgia. Working with the client team, we developed the questionnaire and collected data from a sample size of 400 (N=400).

To ensure data accuracy, we conducted a preliminary test launch with a smaller sample. This allowed us to identify and remove any anomalies before finalizing the data. Ultimately, this phase provided a broader perspective on the initial insights.

Phase 3: Refining the Message Through Creative Testing

The final phase involved creative testing to further refine our understanding of the target audience. Based on the combined findings from phases one and two, we recruited specific groups for three additional 90-minute online focus groups. Here, we employed similar methods as phase one, with customized elements tailored to this stage of the project.

Impact - Throughout the project, we maintained close communication with our client partners, ensuring we stayed within budget and delivered all research results on time. Our findings provided the Georgia Department of Procurement with valuable insights to inform their job seeker outreach strategies.
